Club Report
week ending 28 June by Janet McNeil
|
Kings Cup.
The Mavericks were at Monte Mar and managed to win 3 points thanks to Ray
Parker clocking up a 21-9 win in the singles. Well done Ray.
The Sheriffs met top of the league San Luis at home and despite our best
efforts only managed to draw two rinks to give us 2 points. There were only
112 shots scored over the four rinks which indicates how close the game was.
Good effort hombres. There was no Princes league game this week.
S.A.B.A
The Christians played at Lemon Tree against the Dambusters and had a good
8 points to 6 win. There was a friendly game which the Dambusters won 18-10.
Keep up the good work team.
The Moors were at home to Horadada Toreadors and gave a good account of
themselves winning 10 points to 4. The friendly lost out to the visitors
11 shots to 23. Well done everyone. Thanks to Alex McNeil who had a changed
his clothes quicker than Superman and got to the club on time to stand in
for Margaret Moseley who was unwell. Hope you are feeling better Margaret.
On Midsummer’s day we had a fancy dress fun afternoon. It was great
to see everyone dressed in 50’s and 60’s costumes. The winner of the
best dressed prize went to William Holtham who caught the imagination of everyone
by dressing like his grandad on the beach, rolled up trousers, braces and
of course the knotted hankie. Well done to everyone who turned out to make
the afternoon a success.
Our ladies the San Miguel Red Foxes played a challenge match against Emerald
Isle Ladies on Thursday evening. The turn out was fantastic, 48 ladies
playing with good support from the men who came along to watch. Emerald Isle
won 10 points to 4 on the night and Captain Jean Joliffe was presented with
the Marks Challenge Trophy kindly donated by Sabrina. There will be
a return match in September at San Miguel.
Thank you to everyone who took part, supported and contributed to the success
of this event.
