La Manga Crusaders Bowls Club
La Manga Green
Club Report week ending 29 March with Robin Lowman
Our season finished on a high. Playing Horadada Gladiators at home we had a tough fight to get all 14 points, but the result did not do the match justice as most of the Sue and Sarah rinks were finely balanced - the overall score line 108-76 confirms this. What was probably more important was the friendly nature the match was played under with the numerous spectators cheering the Gladiators on from the side-lines. Afterwards we all went to the Si Bar for a wonderful Menu del Dia. It is this camaraderie that makes the bowls matches in the CBBA league most enjoyable. The individual results were as follows.

Margaret Caley/ Eileen Dunmore/ Sandra Robertson 19-15
Ute Wessendorf/ John Cooper/ Willem van Barneveld 20-12
Philip Don/ Ann Grace/ Sue Letby 16-15

Ian Chapman/ Tudor Gregory/ Dick Osguthorpe 17-13mens winners
Joy van Barneveld/ John Grace/ Robin Lowman 17-8
Sarah Lowman/ David Letby/ Peter Wood 19-13

During the season no less than 49 different players represented the Club of which we are proud to say 23 were ladies. We expect to lose away from home but the challenge was met by John Grace who won 5 of his 8 matches played on foreign soil, a wonderful achievement.
