Bonalba Bowls Club

Phew! what a couple of weeks. A number of our members entered the Valencian Championships and achieved varying success. We were very pleased to see Tony Finan achieve success in the first round of the singles and Dennis Wright and Eddie Chandler only just losing in the first round. All three were new Bowlers when the Club opened, well done to you all. Diane Ridley and Jan Carey reached the quarter final of the Ladies Pairs, well done to you both. Joe Ridley, despite his dodgy hip, did well in the Men's Singles and with Tony Carey progressed reasonably well in the Men's Pairs. Our other participants also done well in their respective disciplines, overall we were satisfied with the results and look forward to next years tournament with anticipation. We would like to congratulate and thank the organising committee and those that were at each venue for a superb and well organised tournament.

On Sunday 25th May we got together with the Santa Faz Lodge of the Masons with the aim of raising some funds for Aecc (Asociación Española Contra El Cáncer). Some 80 plus people from both the Club and the Masons were at the "green" when before a bufett lunch/barbecue many new prospective bowlers tried our game out. From the comments and enquiries re joining the Club everyone present enjoyed their day and many new friendships were made. We would like to offer our thanks to those from Albir B.C. who joined us for the event. As a result of the generosity shown by all present some 1.050 euros was raised. Thank you one and all not forgetting those who donated as they could not be present.

We now look forward to our Summer League on a Wednesday evening and evening Club sessions on Monday and Friday 1730 for 1800.
